In the absence of effective traffic signs and signals, the intersections of Dhaka city have become a nightmare as they have become death traps for many, especially pedestrians. The main aim of this study was to identify the most hazardous intersections of the major intersection types of Dhaka City. Traffic and crash data and accident diagrams were analyzed, and traffic and location surveys were conducted. The intersections were found to have poor levels of service. Most of these intersections do not have foot-over bridges; none have pedestrian crossing signals. Almost all intersections studied have a consistent pattern of fatal and other injury crashes involving pedestrians. The rear-end collision is the most frequent type of crash in these intersections. The study recommends effective solutions to enhance traffic safety at these hazardous intersections. The study outcomes are believed to be very helpful for the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority and the related City Corporations.
