Abstract: A recent trend across the Automated People Mover (APM) market has seen a broadening of the definition of an APM to include a variety of different technologies (APM, GRT, Cable pull, Monorail) when considering competitive procurements for APM systems; while this approach increases the number of proponents who are able to pursue APM projects, the approach also has the impact of creating new tensions in procurements which can ultimately lead to fewer successful bids, and reduced competitivity. This conference will provide insight into the perspective of carbuilders/OEMs when faced with this broadened definition of APM technology and will make recommendations on best practices for ensuring success in the development of APM systems going forward, regardless of the technology selected.
