Michael McNerney was a research civil engineer in the US Air Force and a pilot with 3000 flying hours. He was a research engineer at The University of Texas at Austin where he received his PhD in Air Transportation Engineering. He was an Airport Planner and Pavement Engineer with AECOM for design, evaluation and management of airport pavements. He was manager of the FAA Airport Engineering Division in Washington DC. He is currently a Research Professor at The University of Texas at Arlington and independent airport consultant. He received the T&DI Robert Horonjeff Award for Excellence in Air Transportation Engineering in 2011. He primary research interests are the pavement evaluation of airfield pavements and geospatial airport pavement management.
