. Riley Edwards, Ph.D., P.E., is a Research Associate Professor in the Rail Transportation and Engineering Center (RailTEC) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois), where he oversees rail infrastructure research and advises students. He uses laboratory and field experimentation and analytical methods to evaluate the stress state of railway infrastructure systems. Research focuses on development of mechanistic-empirical design practices for track components and systems.
