Ben Burton was born and raised in South Mississippi. He developed a passion for engineering at a young age due to influence from his father. He attended the University of South Alabama after high school to pursue a degree in civil engineering. During his junior year of college, Ben gained an interest in transportation engineering and began assisting in and eventually conducting research under the direction of a faculty professor, leading him to pursue a masters degree in civil engineering with a focus in transportation. His research position allowed him to turn his passion of transportation engineering into a career by building an extensive knowledge base of the transportation aspects of civil engineering. After college, Ben entered the private consulting sector at a small engineering firm in his home town where he continues to work on transportation projects. He anticipates earning his professional engineering credentials in 2024 and will continue to build his knowledge base of transportation theory and design.
