Dr. Yuting (Tina) Chen, F.ASCE has been working as a tenure track assistant professor at UNC-Charlotte since Fall 2021. Before she joined UNC-Charlotte, she worked as a postdoc researcher in Purdue University-West Lafayette and focused research on applying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to construction safety inspection on site. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in construction safety, occupational safety, and building code for fire safety at UNC Charlotte.
Dr. Chen has the research experience in railroad safety, highway work zone safety, construction safety, digital health of construction workers, and in exploring emerging technologies/techniques (e.g., machine learning, UAV, natural language processing) to the above safety fields.
Dr. Chen is a member of several professional organizations, including ASCE, ASSP, and NAWIC. She has served on the Editorial Board of Journal of Safety Research, and served as a guest editor in Journals, such as Buildings.
