Sailesh Acharya is a postdoctoral researcher in the Transportation Energy Transition Analysis group at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). His research interests span transportation behavior analysis, travel demand modeling, transportation sustainability and equity, the transportation-energy nexus, and intelligent transportation systems. He holds a Ph.D. in transportation engineering from Utah State University, as well as a master’s degree in transportation and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. Among his many accomplishments, his doctoral dissertation delved into the travel choices and behaviors associated with long-distance travel, including the impacts of autonomous vehicles.
