Over the past 25 years Dr. Khazanovich has been involved in various aspects of pavement research, design, and evaluation, including performance prediction modeling, non-destructive testing, and finite element modeling. During development of the AASHTO Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide, he served as a member of Rigid Pavement Leadership Team responsible for structural modeling of rigid pavements and overlays, development of neural networks to predict critical structural responses, subgrade characterization procedures, and development of faulting prediction. His papers have received awards from the Transportation Research Board and International Society for Concrete Pavement.
