Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Rahim is a professor of civil engineering at the University of Idaho and the director of the University’s National Institute for Advanced Transportation Technology (NIATT). Dr. Abdel-Rahim has 25 years of experience in transportation engineering research, education, and outreach activities and has successfully managed and served as a lead principal investigator for more than 55 research projects funded by different federal, state, local, and private agencies in the areas of traffic operation and control, traffic modeling, security and survivability of ITS networks, and real-time control systems. He has published more than 90 publications and is a member of the ASCE Highway and Street Operations Committee. Ahmed obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in transportation engineering, from Michigan State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Idaho.
