Dr. Zhenyu Wang is a senior research faculty member in the ITS, Traffic Operations and Safety Program at USF’s Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) and has more than 15 years of research experience in transportation engineering, specializing in transportation safety, AI/ML technologies, ITS/TSMO evaluations, big data, traffic operations, and Virtual/Augmented Reality. Dr. Wang has participated in 57 research projects funded by FDOT, FHWA, NCHRP, and USDOT UTCs. As PI and Co-PI, he has managed projects for a total budget of more than $5M. Dr. Wang is leading the development of several hardware and software systems for FDOT. His works, the Advanced Lighting Measurement System (ALMS) and Smart Work Zone Evaluation on Arterials, were implemented by FDOT and honored with the National Roadway Safety Award in 2015 and 2021, respectively.
