Mr. Khandaker “Arafin” Islam is a Ph.D. candidate in Civil Engineering at UNLV, specializing in Transportation. He is driven and motivated to develop and deploy strategies to enhance safety outcomes on transportation systems. For this he is on a mission to unlock the potential of data from varied sources. His research not only examines data streams and innovative data analytics techniques, but also explores ways to effectively implement findings to achieve substantial safety improvements on transportation systems. In 2023, he was awarded the Patricia Sastaunik Scholarship by UNLV.
