Dr. Shashi Nambisan, P.E., is Director of the Transportation Research Center and Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His more than 34 years of experience includes about 25 years leading efforts on more than 180 projects to address a broad range of transportation topics with safety and data-enabled decision support as key themes. His research interests include transportation safety and risk analysis, data analytics and data-enabled decision support tools, transportation planning and infrastructure management, emerging technologies, and air transportation. His students have received numerous scholarships and awards at local, regional and national levels. Among the awards and honors he has received is a proclamation by the Governor of the State of Nevada designating January 31, 2007 as the “Professor Shashi Nambisan Day” in recognition of his leadership role in and contributions to transportation in Nevada.
