Dr. Mbaki Onyango is U.C. Foundation Professor in the Civil and Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). She graduated with a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from Kansas State University in 2009 and master’s in international Highway Engineering from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. At UTC she teaches civil engineering undergraduate and graduate classes and conducts research in transportation, pavement design and analysis, construction materials and STEM Education areas. Since joining UTC in 2010, she have attracted research funding to the amount of $ 2.6 million as PI or Co-PI including funding from CEACSE, TDOT, ORNL and NSF. Collectively with her collaborators, she has over 40 journal publications and conference proceedings. She has advised over 110 undergraduate and graduate students.
