Abhilasha Saroj is currently a Research and Development Staff at Oak Ridge National Laboratory with Applied Research for Mobility Systems Group. Previously, she was a Research Engineer II and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She completed her Ph.D. in August 2020 in Civil Engineering with a minor in Computer Science and her M.S. in 2016 in Civil Engineering, both from Georgia Institute of Technology and her bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. The overarching goal of her research is to leverage information from vehicle and infrastructure sensing technologies to develop data-driven solutions to create sustainable and resilient transportation systems. Her current research efforts are primarily focused on development of digital twin models for smart/connected corridors, machine learning applications for traffic prediction modeling, and modeling driving behaviors for interaction between Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and human driven vehicles. She has published her research efforts in four journal publications and over six conference proceedings and has presented her research at more than 15 conferences. She is currently serving as on Leadership Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers Artificial Intelligence Committee. In the past, she has served as Review Coordinator Transportation Research Board ACP 30 Vehicle-Highway Automation Committee, Communications Coordinator for a non-profit organization – 500 Women Scientists Atlanta Pod, President, Vice President, and Secretary for the Institute of Transportation Engineers Georgia Tech Student Chapter.
