Michael Gerardi is Director of Consulting Services and Co-Founder of APR Consultants, Inc. He has 30 years of experience in evaluating airfield pavement smoothness and locating/quantifying pavement roughness. In those 30 years, Mr. Gerardi has co-authored over 100 technical reports dealing with vehicle response and pavement roughness and has completed numerous airfield surveys. Mr. Gerardi also participates in the Transportation Research Board, Road Profilers Users’ Group and ASTM E-17.
Mr. Gerardi is a seasoned pavement survey technician and analyst. He is proficient in measuring the pavement profile using a variety of devices and methods to include the Auto Rod and Level, an inclinometer-type profiling device useful for indexes such as IRI, RN and PI and a high-speed relative profile device needed for new pavement smoothness acceptance testing. Mr. Gerardi is a certified operator and analyst for the National Highway Institute and for the State of Ohio for new pavement acceptance testing for smoothness for the Ohio Department of Transportation. As such, Mr. Gerardi is experienced at evaluating new airfield pavements providing acceptance testing and corrective action guidance to new pavements out of specification.
For the last seven years, Mr. Gerardi has worked with the FAA to update Advisory Circulars with new pavement acceptance testing guidance and pavement roughness evaluation.
Mr. Gerardi is a 1991 graduate from Wright State University with a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communications.
