Developing road transport infrastructure in the rural, hilly areas of Nepal poses a significant challenge. Typically, 70 -80% of the total project cost is allocated to road side drainage, cross drainage and slope protection structures in such terrain. Gandaki province invested NRs. 60,599.67M budget equivalent to $456.08M in transport development sectors during five years (Fiscal years: 2018/19 to 2023/24) after implementation of federal system in Nepal. Out of NRs.83529.71M (≈$628.65M) budget, 72.54% major budget was invested in road transport development sector. We expended this budget for upgrading and construction of 599 Km major graveled road, 668 Km major black topped road and constructing 81 number of bridges along the major roads making 1302 Km road length in all weathering roads within the province during five years within the eleven districts of Gandaki Province.
