Dr. Y.L. Mo, F.ASCE, F.ACI and F.Humboldt, is John and Rebecca Moores Professor at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, University of Houston (UH), Houston, Texas. Dr. Mo’s technical interests are advanced/periodic materials and structures and materials, including sensor development, constitutive models, finite element simulations, large-scale testing and field investigations, on which he has more than 400 research publications, including 222 refereed journal papers, 163 conference papers, keynote and prestige lectures. His google scholar citations, h-index and i10-index are 5740, 40 and 102, respectively. Dr. Mo has successfully supervised seven Postdoc, 25 PhD and over 46 Masters Theses as well as 34 visiting scholar studies. It is also worth noting that with the novel idea presented in this paper Dr. Mo and his PhD students have obtained three U.S. patents on structural health monitoring sensors.
