Dr. Lu is an Associate Professor in the department of transportation, logistics, and finance at the North Dakota State University and she also holds an Advanced Research Fellow position with the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI). She possessed a PhD degree in Transportation and Logistics with nearly 15 years full-time research experience with NDSU. She has taught 10+ courses at NDSU, been a major advisor or advisory committee for more than 40 MS/PhD students. Dr. Lu have established research expertise in may transportation related area including smart infrastructure management, multimodal transportation, transportation safety, freight corridor transportation planning, machine learning/deep learning in transportation, equitable transportation, and smart transportation with technology advance. She has successfully published 75+ peer-reviewed journal papers, 17 peer-reviewed state and federal research reports, and 100+ conference presentations and conference proceedings. She has completed more than 20 federal/state DOT/NCHRP funded research projects as PI/Co-PI. Currently, Dr. Lu is a Committee Research Coordinator and Member for TRB AR080 Committee on Highway/Rail Grade Crossings and Member for Fright and Logistics Committee and the Rail Transport Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). She is currently Handling Editor for Sustainability and also served on editorial board for numerous journals. In addition, she also served as the panelist for NSF and various USDOT UTC centers.
