Jonathan Oldenburg is a Program Specialist at the U.S. Army Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC), Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL), Airfields and Pavements Branch (APB). As such, he serves as a team leader through the process of planning, executing, and reporting large-scale railroad infrastructure evaluations for the Army, Air Force, and Navy. His main objectives are to ensure government owned railroad assets are inspected and maintained to the highest level, deliver repair recommendations, and offer insight to installations concerning the advancement of new railroad technologies and practices. Mr. Oldenburg also works closely with Engineers on research projects intended to solve complex railroad infrastructure and inspection problems. Mr. Oldenburg regards his highest accomplishment as receiving the Department Of The Army Achievement Medal For Civilian Service award.
Before signing on as a Federal Employee in May 2016, Mr. Oldenburg was a Civil Engineering Technician for SOL Engineering Services LLC, a government contractor. In this position, he supported the APB from February 2015 to May 2016 in a variety of railroad and airfield projects including, rapid airfield damage repair and railroad infrastructure evaluations.
In addition to his federal service, Mr. Oldenburg has long history of heavy construction experience, working as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Construction Foreman. His assignments included construction site preparation and earthwork to construct parking lots, structural building pads, roads, drainage structures, and precast concrete bridges.
Mr. Oldenburg serves as certified railroad track inspector for the U.S. Army. He attended college at Mississippi State University, Starkville and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration Degree.
A native of Vicksburg MS, Mr. Oldenburg resides with his wife, Caitlin and two boys, Jacob and Noah. He enjoys family, friends, and the outdoors.
