Dr. Yunli Shao is an Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia College of Engineering. His research focuses on developing and innovating automotive and transportation systems by integrating theories and methodologies, such as advanced control, optimization, artificial intelligence (AI), with multi-resolution modeling, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) experimental evaluation. Prior to joining UGA, Dr. Shao was at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory as PI and Co-PI of multiple Department of Energy (DOE) core capability projects on multi-resolution HIL simulation for vehicle and transportation systems as well as applications to connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), electrification with hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs). He has Extensive experiences in developing emerging E-Mobility technologies for light-duty, medium-duty, heavy- duty vehicles, as well as off-road vehicles (e.g., agriculture, mining). His expertise includes system-of-systems modeling and simulation of vehicle and transportation systems, HIL evaluation, model based and AI based optimal control, electrification and CAV applications, commercial and off-road vehicle applications, traffic control, traffic sensing and data analytic
