Dr. Anol Mukhopadhyay is a Senior Research Scientist in Texas A&M Transportation Institute and an Adjunct Professor in the Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. Dr. Mukhopadhyay is also the Program Manager for the Rigid Pavement under Materials and Pavement within the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. Dr. Mukhopadhyay has over 24 years of research and project management experience related to materials with extensive experience on developing test methods related to concrete durability (especially alkali silica reaction [ASR]) and has been actively involved in developing, improving, and implementing technologies for bridges and highway / airfield concrete pavements for more than 20 years. Dr. Mukhopadhyay has been invited to serve as an invited / keynote speaker in several national and international conferences.
His other areas of research include recycled and waste materials, high performance concrete (HPC), ultra-HPC (UHPC), nanomaterials in concrete, cement chemistry, cement paste rheology, coal combustion by-products and fly ash alternatives, concrete microstructures and petrography. His aggregate chemical ASR testing method (VCMD) has been published as a full standard by AASAHTO (T364) and accelerated concrete cylinder test (ACCT) is published as an AASHTO (TP142) provisional standard.
He is the current Chair of ACI 221 (Aggregate Committee). He has been serving as a voting member of numerous technical committees in ACI, TRB, ASTM, ACI-SDC. He has been serving as the Executive Board (EB) member in the International Cement Microscopy Association (ICMA).
