Technology Enabled Advanced Mobility for Tennessee's (TEAM TN) goal is to place Tennessee on the leading edge of transportation electrification and the future of mobility. We are a partnership of R&D, workforce development and technology commercialization entities that serve to help companies and organizations reach transportation electrification and decarbonization goals. TEAM TN is funded by the National Science Foundation with an Engines Development Award.
Advances in transportation electrification and digitization promise to revolutionize the future of mobility at a scale that will transform the movement of people and goods all over the world. We seek to place Tennessee in the vanguard of this transformation, while also reducing the reliance on carbon-intensive energy sources, mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and creating a more equitable transportation system. Tennessee is uniquely positioned to do this. Tennessee aims to become the #1 state in the country for the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. The state is well on its way to meeting this goal, with four automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) producing EVs and has success attracting almost $12B in capital investment in EV projects since 2017.
Evidence indicates efforts to decarbonize the global transportation system are growing. Consumers seeking cost-effective, climate-sensitive transportation solutions are increasingly turning to EVs, driving demand for innovations in energy storage, vehicle lightweighting, charging systems, infrastructure, and strategies. At the same time, advances in artificial intelligence (AI), information technology (IT), and cyber-physical systems (CPS) promise a cleaner, safer, and more equitable transportation system that is more secure, reliable, and consumer focused. Tennessee has a unique blend of assets that, when connected, will enable the mobility revolution.
TEAM TN is a first-of-a-kind Tennessee coalition of education institutions; advanced industries; community and non-profit organizations; high-tech business incubators; accelerators and venture capital organizations; federal, state, and local government agencies; and economic development entities co-invested in the long-term advancement of Tennessee’s innovation economy and the creation of mutual and reciprocal benefits for our businesses, diverse communities, and residents. To engage diverse Tennessee communities in the identification and prioritization of mobility gaps and solutions, outreach to underserved populations to remove participation barriers will be pursued. To boost Tennessee's leadership in the global innovation economy, we will design and implement strategies to engage diverse Tennessee communities left out of, or behind in, the new economy.
