Dr. Boniphace Kutela is an experienced researcher in Traffic Safety and Operations, Intelligent Transportation System, Railroad Network Analysis, Shared Macro and Micro-mobility, and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles. He has been a key researcher for FHWA, NCHRP, TxDOT, NDOT, and TDOT research projects. His major areas of expertise include Roadway Data Analysis Methodologies, Machine Learning, Predictive Modeling, and Natural Language Processing with a focus on traffic safety. He is equipped with knowledge on Traffic Simulation and Modeling using VISSIM and Rail Traffic Controller (RTC), data analysis and visualization as well as spatial analysis and modeling. He has authored/co-authored over twenty publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presented over 15 presentations at national and local conferences. He has an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification and is an active member of ITE and ASCE, and a friend of five several TRB committees.
