Luke Fletcher, born on May 1, 2004, in Pennsylvania, embarked on a journey that has taken him from the rolling hills of Pennsylvania to the woodlands of Georgia and the scenic landscapes of New Mexico. His path has been marked by academic excellence, a deep passion for engineering, and a commitment to personal growth.
As a young child, Luke Fletcher relocated to Georgia, where he spent his formative years until he was 14. His first glimpse into his future began at the New Mexico Media Arts Collaborative Charter School (MACCS). During this time at MACCS, his budding interest in engineering emerged as he participated in various engineering competitions, including the KISS Institute for Practical Robotics Botball competition. This early involvement sparked an interest in engineering, which he wanted to pursue further.
Recognizing his passion for engineering, Luke Fletcher shifted to a more tech-focused environment, enrolling at Nex+gen Academy during his junior year. At Nex+gen Academy, he engaged in various engineering competitions, notably the VEX Robotics and the Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) National Engineering Design (NEDC) competitions. In his senior year, Luke Fletcher achieved a significant milestone by earning the first-place national title in the NEDC Designing for Equity MESA competition. His accomplishments were not limited to the national stage; he also represented his school in the VEX Robotics competition and secured 26th place at the World Championship.
Upon high school graduation, where he ranked among the top 10% of his class and gained various awards and recognition from MESA, Luke Fletcher decided to pursue his passion further. He enrolled at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, determined to carve a path in civil engineering. During his freshman year, he contributed to the Culvert Asset Management Project (CAMP). He gained hands-on experience in fieldwork, evaluating the integrity of culverts using various damage metrics and conducting meticulous data analysis to identify and mitigate errors. His dedication and hard work laid the foundation for a promising academic and professional future.
Currently, Luke Fletcher is an undergraduate student at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, continuing his pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. His academic journey is marked by a tireless commitment to excellence and a passion for making a positive impact through his engineering pursuits.
