Nara Almeida is a Doctor of Civil Engineering with an MBA in Civil Construction, a specialization in Project Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning. Back in Brazil, where she was born, Nara worked as a Professional Architect for 8 years, designing and coordinating residential, commercial, and institutional projects. Nara is a stalwart in the construction industry, championing sustainability - a commitment reflected in her LEED Green Associate certification. Currently, an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Washington Tacoma, her research focuses on the adaptive reuse of buildings and innovative sustainable construction materials, including pervious concrete pavements and industrial waste-derived concrete.
